Introduction to cumulative frequency graphs
Use this applet to see how a set of listed raw data can be used to create a grouped frequency table, and how this can be used to work out a cumulative frequencies. Compare the cumulative frequency graph based on the raw data with the graph based on the grouped data. Can you see why we can only make estimates when relying on grouped data alone? Also compare the shapes of three different graphs.
Why do you think there is a double line between the frequency and cumulative frequency columns in the table?
After revealing the cumulative frequencies, additional questions appear. You can click on each of these to reveal the answers.
